Obidient Movement Responds To APC’s Threat To Peter Obi, Family

Obidient Movement Condemns Threats Against Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi  Warns APC of Dangerous Rhetoric

The Obidient Movement, a coalition of supporters of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi, has strongly condemned recent comments made by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group described Morka’s remarks as a direct threat to Obi’s safety and a troubling sign of rising authoritarianism under  Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

During a recent interview on Arise TV , Morka had stated that Peter Obi had “crossed the line so many times,” adding ominously, “he has what’s coming to him, and whatever he gets, he should manage it.”

Obidient Movement Reacts

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Yunusa Tanko, the Obidient Movement expressed alarm over Morka’s comments, describing them as reckless and a tacit endorsement of violence. “Such a declaration from the spokesperson of the ruling party is unbecoming and highly dangerous. It sends a clear signal of the descent into authoritarianism under the current administration,” the statement read.

The group demanded clarity from the APC on several points:

  • What “line” Peter Obi allegedly crossed.
  • Who defined the boundaries of this supposed line.
  • Under what authority the ruling party determined Obi had overstepped.
  • What actions or statements by Obi justified Morka’s threatening remarks.

The Movement further demanded to know, “What exactly is coming to Peter Obi?”

Warning to the Tinubu Administration

The Obidient Movement accused President Tinubu’s government of adopting a pattern of repression, intimidation, and threats rather than engaging in democratic dialogue. “If any harm befalls Mr. Peter Obi, his family, or anyone associated with him, the Nigerian government and its agents will bear full responsibility,” the statement asserted.

The group also called on Nigerians and the international community to monitor the actions of the APC and hold its leaders accountable for any threats to democracy or individual freedoms.

The Movement urged Nigeria’s security agencies to treat Morka’s remarks with the seriousness they deserve, emphasizing that similar threats in the past had been ignored. “We call on the security services to engage Mr. Morka and demand a full explanation of his statement,” the statement added.

Peter Obi himself had earlier raised concerns about his safety, claiming that his life is under threat due to his outspoken criticism of President Tinubu’s administration. Obi’s allegations and the Obidient Movement’s strong response underscore growing tensions in Nigeria’s political landscape.

The Movement concluded its statement by calling for a renewed commitment to peaceful and democratic discourse, warning that any further escalation of threats could endanger not only Obi but also the broader stability of the Nigerian state.

  1. Very appropriate response. Maybe there’s need to call on the IGP to call Mr Moria to order.
All these sycophants who can’t or won’t do what they are paid to do would make themselves nuisance to the society they are meant to serve.
