Amnesty international, lawyers, others add their Voice to defend Raye

Most Nigerians are beginning to Understand the antics and evil machinations of those keeping them perpetually down in poverty and hopelessness with this recent issue between NYSC and Raye.

Amnesty international has added their voice to the intimidation meted to the young corp member who expressed her views towards the Nigerian and was shut down by the NYSC.

Amnesty international wrote below :

“Amnesty International strongly condemns threats and intimidation directed at a lady who posted TikTok video lamenting the current escalating economic hardship. The lady alleged that NYSC officials @officialnyscng threatened her for refusing to delete the video.

It is perfectly within her right to express discontent peacefully. Instead of threatening her for her opinions on rampant inflation, the authorities should be prioritizing addressing the country’s economic woes.

Millions of people in Nigeria are facing extreme poverty. So far, the authorities have failed to put in place effective mitigation measures, leaving millions of people without the hope of getting out of the economic challenges and enjoying their human rights.

The Nigerian authorities must stop responding with violence and threats to individuals and groups who express dissenting opinions — in utter disregard for Nigerian constitution and international law. Holding and voicing dissenting views is not a crime.”

Popular comedian and activist, Debo, known as Macaroni shares his view below.

” You cannot threaten, intimidate or victimize any corper for expressing their view on the performance of the president. They are citizens with rights; the president is in office to serve — Mr Macaroni cautions NYSC DG, other personnel.”

Meanwhile,A host of lawyers including Inibehe Effiong, have argued that NYSC’s Raye is not a Civil Servant, and has not broken any laws. Therefore, they’re willing to represent her pro-bono, following the political threats.

Dele Farotimi also expressed joy to see that some Nigerian youths are actually waking up. He said in his video

“”Raye, I assure you, just like Nigerians have my back during my own time, we got your back too. Nothing is going to happen to you”
