BREAKING : Tinubu Declares state of Emergency in Rivers Appoints Replacement

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending the governor, deputy governor, and house of assembly members for six months.

President Tinubu’s decision comes amid political tensions in the state. Vice Admiral Ibot Ete Ibas has been appointed as the Sole Administrator to oversee governance during this period.

The implication of this is that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all House of Assembly members will be suspended for six months.

According to Tinubu, the decision follows prolonged political instability, including the demolition of the state assembly and failure to restore governance.

He premised his argument on the fact that the Supreme Court ruled that the state lacked a functioning government.

Amid security concerns and legislative gridlock, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) has been appointed Administrator.

The move according to him aims to restore order, uphold democracy, and ensure effective governance in Rivers State.
