The Governor of Benue State,Rev. Fr. Dr. Alia has come under yet another heavy criticism after he signals an intention to turn Bola Tinubu’s presidential visit to Benue state into a jamboree.
Hold on a second, Fr. Alia didn’t declare public holiday so that Benue people would mourn the deceased but instead declared it for “colorful” Ashebi welcome party for Bola Tinubu?
This is the highest dishonor to the dead…
Each passing day in Nigeria presents a gory scene of obscure leadership or self imposed disaster of acts of terrorism.
Fr. Alia in his earlier directive declared Wednesday a public holiday and painfully asked for Benue people to match out in colorful “Ashebi” to welcome Tinubu.
Now, the question is; could it be that the governor doesn’t understand What’s as stake?
Could it be that Fr. Alia doesn’t understand the meaning of mourning and jamboree?
Why on earth could Fr. Alia chose to mock the people he couldn’t protect by turning a supposed condolence visit into a state visit.
This is the height of insensitivity…
How could he feel if any one so close to his heart was amongst the victims?
What would he tell the young woman that lost 5 of her family members to that single act of terrorism.
What again was Tinubu, who said he canceled his Kaduna trip to visit the State going there to do?
Another endorsement fun galore or condolence visit?
Would he visit the crime scene or retire to the already prepared ground for festivities and political jingoism as usual?
Benue people, the erstwhile food basket of the nation deserves better…
