His Excellency, Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi has continued to show that improving the HDI of a nation is far more important than an improved IGR.
Since 2014 till date, Peter Obi has continued to pump his personal resources into critical areas of health sectors, especially nursing schools where he keeps donating generously for the infrastructural development of the health institutions.
Yesterday, he was at Benin-city, Edo state where he made a donation of 15 Million naira to the St. Philomena college of Nursing to support them.
He wrote below of his x account :
“Supporting and encouraging Human Capital Development: A Visit to Philomena College of Nursing.
For Nigeria to truly develop, we must prioritise healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation – core pillars that define every progressive nation.

It’s in line with this commitment that I visited Philomena College of Nursing Sciences in Benin City, Edo State – an institution I have consistently supported for its vital role in strengthening our healthcare system.
To aid their ongoing work in training dedicated nurses and improving healthcare delivery, I made a modest contribution of ₦15 million. Such investments are among the most effective ways to build a better future.
I thank the management, staff, and students for their warm welcome and commend their dedication.
A New Nigeria will emerge when we invest in our people and lift them out of poverty.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO”.
