Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan blocked from entering National Assembly (video)

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was blocked earlier today from gaining access into the National Assembly and chambers.

You’d recall that two weeks ago, a Federal High Court ruled in her favor, ordering the senate to recall her. She then scheduled today for resumption.

Meanwhile, after the ruling, the Senate wrote an appeal, asking for the judgement to be overturned.

While advising Senator Natasha to stay away from the Senate, because the court order was merely advisory. It doesn’t translate to the immediate lift her suspension, according to Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the Senate’s chairman of media and public affairs committee.

Even though Justice Binta Nyako’e ruling cited how her people have been underrepresented since her ban in February, a ban which the Judge described as an unnecessary punishment.

Yesterday Senator Natasha Akpoti wrote to the IGP demanding her right to protection, as advised by the court.

Today the Senate increased security presence as the complex, to ensure she stayed out. Her cars were barred from accessing the premises.

So she parked and walk on foot with her supporters including activist, Randy Peters Aisha Yesufu. — Still, they remain locked out of the chambers.

Unfortunately, she has to get in today. Otherwise, it won’t be possible until September, as the NASS will be going for its annual recess today.

When a security officer was asked who gave the order to keep her out, he couldn’t answer.
