The Chairman of the Labour party caretaker Committee, Senator Nenadi Usman, has strongly criticized the recent statements made by Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking in response to Morka’s remarks on national television on January 5, 2025, Senator Usman described them as “incendiary” and a threat to democracy and national unity.
“It is with great concern and a deep sense of responsibility that I condemn the recent incendiary remarks made by Mr. Felix Morka during his appearance on national television,” Senator Usman stated. “His statements not only pose a direct threat to the life, reputation, and business interests of Mr. Peter Obi but also constitute an affront to the principles of democracy, decency, and responsible political engagement.”
Senator Usman praised Mr. Peter Obi as “a man of impeccable character” who has consistently championed good governance and respect for the rule of law. She criticized the APC for resorting to “baseless allegations and threats” instead of engaging constructively on issues that matter to Nigerians.

“Such inflammatory rhetoric has no place in our democracy. It undermines national unity, discourages productive political discourse, and endangers lives,” she said. “We remind Mr. Felix Morka and the APC leadership that words have consequences. The Labour Party will hold them accountable for any harm that befalls Mr. Peter Obi or his associates.”
Calling on security agencies to act, Senator Usman urged them to investigate the matter and hold individuals accountable for inciting violence or issuing veiled threats. She emphasized the need for political leaders to focus on addressing pressing national issues, including insecurity, unemployment, and economic instability.
“The Labour Party remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the values of transparency, justice, and inclusion,” she added. “We will not be cowed or distracted by threats or intimidation. Mr. Peter Obi represents hope and progress for millions of Nigerians, and we will continue to stand by him in his pursuit of a better Nigeria.”
Senator Usman demanded a public apology from the APC to Mr. Peter Obi, urging them to retract Morka’s offensive statements. “Anything less would be a tacit endorsement of such reckless and dangerous behavior,” she said.
In conclusion, she called on political leaders to promote peace and unity, reminding them that leadership is measured by how disagreements are handled. “As leaders, we owe it to Nigerians to promote peace, unity, and responsible political dialogue. Let us not forget that the true measure of leadership lies in how we treat one another, even in the face of disagreement,” she concluded.
The Labour Party’s strong response underscores its commitment to accountability and the protection of democratic principles in Nigeria.
