Valentine Ozigbo Cries as Court Affirms Ukachukwu As APC Candidate

Valentine Ozigbo has lost out from his quest to become the Anambra APC Guber candidate.

A Federal High Court in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, on Wednesday dismissed a legal challenge brought by All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Mr Valentine Ozigbo , against Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu’s candidacy for the upcoming November 8 election.

Presiding Judge Evelyn Anyadike ruled that Ozigbo failed to provide sufficient evidence proving Ukachukwu’s ineligibility to participate in the party’s primary held on April 5.

While acknowledging discrepancies in Ukachukwu’s documentation, Justice Anyadike concluded that the court lacked jurisdiction to replace one candidate with another.

She said: “The court cannot interfere in the internal matters of a political party where the plaintiff has not provided incontrovertible proof of the date of membership, nor shown that the party acted outside its constitutional powers.”

Reacting to the judgment, Ozigbo reaffirmed his dedication to justice and noted that he would seek legal counsel to determine his next course of action.

“We are consulting with our lawyers, we will decide on our next step. I did not fight this case for myself, I fought for Ndi Anambra. I fought to protect the soul of our democracy, and that fight is far from over.”

Ozigbo’s legal representatives contended that Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu’s party membership registration had been backdated in an attempt to meet the eligibility deadline.

Commenting on the matter, Ozigbo stated, “This wasn’t just a bureaucratic issue—it was about integrity. It was about standing against criminality. Sadly, the court looked away.”

In contrast, supporters of APC’s candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, celebrated the court’s decision, hailing it as fair and well-deserved.

Ukachukwu recently wrapped up a statewide tour, visiting all 21 local government areas to personally thank party delegates for selecting him as the APC candidate. A source within his campaign team revealed that full-scale campaigning is set to begin in August.
